Obituary of Jack Bockman

Jack Bockman, age 75, of Milford, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.

There will be private interment services.

John Craig “Jack” Bockman, born on September 15, 1948, in Faith, South Dakota, to Art and Shirley (Webber) Bockman, left us on February 23, 2024, at the age of seventy-five. His early years were spent in Dickinson County, where his family moved in search of farming opportunities. Jack was a proud 1966 graduate of Harris Lake Park High School.

In 1969, at the height of the Vietnam War, Jack answered the call of duty and entered the US Army on February 12. His bravery and skills were evident as he served as a Ranger, an experience that saw him earning several commendations including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and a distinguished Bronze Star Medal. He concluded his service with an Honorable Discharge on February 1, 1975.

Following his military service, Jack embarked on a career as a material manager, contributing to the success of several manufacturing companies.

Jack's personal life was marked by joy and companionship when he married Ellen Dean on September 20, 2003, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments.

Jack is lovingly remembered by his wife, Ellen Bockman, of Milford; his daughters, Jen Anderson and her husband Neil of Linwood, Minnesota, and Tasha Campolieto and her husband Marc of Denver, Colorado; step-daughters, Angela Laughton and her husband Dave of LeMars, Iowa, and Kimberly Bremer of Estherville, Iowa. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Eve and Stella Anderson, Walker and Faith Riggs, Cody (Abby) Laughton, Jenna Laughton, and Beau McClain; and great-granddaughter, Oaklee McClain. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Art and Shirley Bockman, and brothers, Terry and Benji Bockman.

He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
