Obituary of Phyllis Johnson

A funeral service for Phyllis Johnson, age 90, of Lake Park, will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Lake Park Methodist Church in Lake Park.  Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake.

There will be an Order of Eastern Star service at 5 pm, Friday, March 22, 2024 at Lake Park Methodist Church, with a visitation to follow, with the family present until 7 pm.

Phyllis Ann Johnson, born July 2, 1933, in Lake Park, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024. She was the daughter of Howard and Anna (Vodraska) Whaley. Phyllis graduated from Spirit Lake High School and married Everett "Jeff" Johnson on August 5, 1953, in Montgomery. Throughout her life, Phyllis embraced many roles, including housewife, mother, grandmother, volunteer, and farmhand.

She was an active member of the Lake Park Methodist Church and contributed to various organizations such as the Order of Eastern Star, Library Board, Legion Auxiliary, and Hospital Auxiliary. Phyllis found joy in spending time with her family, knitting, playing games, baking sticky rolls, reading to children, and tending to her garden.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 70 years, Everett "Jeff" Johnson; children Leilani (Mike) Reef, Judy (Ken) Gard, Gary (Diane) Johnson; grandchildren Josh Reef, Andrew Reef, Abby (Phillip) Brecht, Sarah (John Ritchie) Gard, Jacob Johnson, Lewis Johnson; great-grandchildren LeRoy Johnson and Everett Johnson; sisters Dora Froendt and Colleen Whaley; brother-in-law Bruce Johnson; sister-in-law Ruby Bradshaw; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Jeri Ann Johnson, great-granddaughter Zoe Reef, and her parents. Phyllis will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
