Obituary of Ruby Ackermann
A Funeral Service for Ruby Ackermann, age 90, of Lakefield will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 11:00am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00-11:00am at the church. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church and School at 604 Bush St., PO Box 750, Lakefield, MN 56150.
Ruby Gusta Ackermann was born March 16th, 1933, at home on the family farm near Adrian MN to Gustav and Jelkea Jansen Krieger Kratzke being only two and one half lbs. at birth. Ruby was baptized the same day. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Sibley Iowa.
Ruby worked for W. E. Marsten at the Adrian Power and Light Office in Adrian, MN before her marriage to David John Ackermann on January 27th, 1954, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rushmore, MN. Ruby worked at various jobs after marriage. The Ackermanns retired from farming in 1996.
Ruby was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield, MN since 1954 where she was Sunday School Treasurer and worked on church banners for several years. She was a member of the Lakefield Garden Club. Ruby liked to crochet, making all the grandchildren's baptismal outfits, blankets, caps, and numerous other decorative items.
Ruby was thankful for being blessed to have a caring Christian family all through life and having a wonderful husband, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed times spent together with family. Ruby was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Ruby passed away on February 15, 2024 at Accura Healthcare in Spirit Lake.
Ruby is survived by sons James (Jeanine) Ackermann, Daniel (Kelly) Ackermann, seven grandchildren Jacob (Melissa) Ackermann of Lakefield, Jeremiah (Karly) Ackermann of Brookings SD, Gregory (Racheal) Ackermann of Lakefield, Jared Ackermann of Lakefield, Amanda (Dustin) Voss of Lakefield, Matthew (Alyssa) Ackermann of Lakefield, and Jesse Ackermann of Lakefield, thirteen great-grandchildren Alivia Ackermann, Abigail Ackermann, Cade Voss, David Ackermann, Aaron Ackermann, Benjamin Ackermann, Connor Voss, Addison Ackermann, Eleanor Ackermann, Hannah Ackermann, Carter Ackermann, August Voss, and Caleb Ackermann along with several nieces and nephews.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband David, her parents, brothers Heinz Krieger and John Krieger, one sister Lisa Lindemann, brother-in-law Edward Lindemann, and sisters-in-law Esther Krieger and Dolores Krieger.
