1963 — 2026

Emblem

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Todd Charles Miller on May 29, 2026, at his home in Fostoria, Iowa. Born on August 6, 1963, to Charles and Edna Miller. Todd's journey among us was one filled with creativity, adverse health challenges tempered with a wicked sense of humor. He was 62 years old.

Todd was raised in the town of Spirit Lake, where he developed a love for artistic expression. Todd joined the Air Force in 1981, serving as a C130 hydraulic mechanic based at Dyess AFB in Abilene, Texas. During his tenure, he was deployed to both the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant by 1988. His dedication and service to his country were exemplary.

In 1981, Todd married Jeanene Thacker in Abilene, Texas. The couple welcomed their beloved daughter, Amanda, in July 1982. Though their paths eventually diverged in 1990, Todd was a proud father, taking immense pride in Amanda's accomplishments, especially her commendable career as a medical doctor serving in the Air Force and later at the VA hospital, aiding veterans to this day.

After his military service, Todd pursued his passion for art by running a tattoo parlor, first in Abilene and later returning to his roots in Spirit Lake. Hundreds of his creative tattoos adorn the bodies of people in Texas and in the Midwest. He channeled his creativity into pencil drawings, wood sculptures, and the creation of intricate tattoos. Despite retiring early in 1993 due to complications from scoliosis, he had a love for building and flying radio-controlled airplanes, collecting guns, shooting pool and honing his target-shooting skills at his home in the country. Todd relished driving his Mustang on sunny days or mowing his land with his zero turn mower. As his health declined he flew indoor drones and kept his balance by practicing on a hoverboard. An example of his sense of humor was his last beloved pet, a one-eyed cat named "Wink".

Todd is survived by his loving daughter, Amanda (Ben) Pollitt, and his cherished grandson, Luke Pollitt. Brother Kirk Miller, sister Carolyn Miller, niece Ashley Steinkamp, and nephew Austin Miller.

Todd was predeceased by his parents, Charles Miller and Edna Janssen.
