A Military graveside service for Tom "Frank" DeMuth, age 76 of Milford, will be held Friday, May 8th at 2:30PM at Calvary Cemetery in Milford. Following the graveside, a visitation will begin at 3:00PM followed by a Memorial Service at 5:30 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford.
Thomas “Frank” Duane DeMuth, the son of Leo Duane “Dewey” DeMuth and Barbara Mae (Phillips) DeMuth, was born September 15, 1949, in Spencer, Iowa. He was raised in Milford, Iowa, where he attended St. Joseph Catholic School through the eighth grade and graduated from Milford High School in 1968.
Following graduation, Tom proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1972. During the Vietnam War, he was stationed aboard the USS Constellation and the USS Bon Homme Richard, serving as a Seaman Apprentice. He was honorably discharged in 1972.
After returning home, Tom made Milford his lifelong home. He worked alongside his father for many years refinishing gymnasium floors and later did construction work with his cousin, Larry Christopherson.
Tom loved building model airplanes, spending time with friends at the Hill Top Bar in Arnolds Park and never missed a “June Bash.” He also enjoyed attending rock concerts and shows at the Green Space in Arnolds Park. One of his favorite things in life were the old planes of WW2. He enjoyed attending air shows at the Fagan Air Museum in Granite Falls, Minnesota. Tom had a passion for sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Cubs. Above all, family meant everything to Tom, and he never missed a gathering.
Tom passed away on April 25, 2026, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara DeMuth; sisters, Shirley DeMuth and Mary (Jerry) Labiak; brothers, Peter DeMuth, Philip (Ruth) DeMuth, and Paul (Mary) DeMuth; nieces and nephews, Jason, Jenny, Jessica, Amber, April, Nathan, Jess, Travis, Brandi, Molly, Ben, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Duane “Dewey” DeMuth, and sister-in-law, Susan DeMuth.
