December 2, 1942 — July 12, 2025

Robert Jospeh “RJ” Myers was born to Robert Milton Myers and Edna Hoffman Myers on December 2, 1942, in Fort Dodge, IA. As a child, Bob lived in Kansas City, MO, and Valentine, NE, while his father served in the military. Bob and his parents eventually returned to Humboldt, IA. While in high school, he played drums for The Silvertones and The Suades. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1961.

After high school, Bob attended Eagle Grove Community College, followed by Mankato State College and St. Cloud State University, earning a master’s degree in art education. Bob married Linda Davenport in Humboldt, IA, on August 17, 1963. To this union, two daughters, Michelle and Alesia were born. He taught art at the high schools in Cherokee, IA and NE Hamilton Schools before moving to Iowa Falls, IA, in 1970, where Bob was an art instructor at Ellsworth College. While living in Iowa Falls, his marriage with Linda dissolved, but the two remained friends later in life. He took an early retirement from Ellsworth in 1991. Bob moved back to Humboldt after his retirement, and lived there until moving to Milford, IA, in 2020 to be closer his daughter. He loved drawing, painting, playing his drums and guitar. Bob had a big love for art and music, and a lot of knowledge about both. One of the highlights of his life was being inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Arnolds Park, IA, in 2001 with The Suades. Bob passed away peacefully at his home in Milford, IA, on July 12, 2025, at 82 years of age.
