Patricia Ellen Sue was born April 30, 1948 to Leland and Dorothy Olson in Hendricks, Minnesota. Being the oldest daughter, she was raised with and helped to raise seven siblings. When the children were young, Pat‘s dad, took a job in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Leland loaded their belongings and the family in the back of a semi trailer (literally) and moved them to Norton Acres. This is where she spent the rest of her childhood. She and her brothers and sisters had many memories of growing up in Norton Acres and frequently shared them at numerous family get togethers and reunions. Pat had a few close friends in her teen years. One of them being Bonnie Bell. At the young age of 16, she and Bonnie met brothers Russell and Everett “Eddie“ Evans. Patricia and Eddie began dating and they were married when she turned 18. During their marriage, she gave birth to her pride and joys. First in 1966 to her son Wayne Edward. Then in 1970 to her son Lance Leland and last but not least her daughter in 1972, Candy Kay Ellen.
This union wasn’t meant to last, and Pat and Eddie went their separate ways. In that time Pat raised her children as a single mother until one day her sister Jean introduced Pat to her sister-in-law’s brother-in-law, Carl (Jr) Koepp.
On one of their first dates they took their kids to the lake for the 4th of July. Wayne and Jr’s son Jonathan accidentally started a fire while lighting fireworks. That was almost a disaster.
On June 4, 1977 Pat and Carl (Jr) married. Pat brought her children to the marriage and Jr brought his four sons Wade, Marty, Jonathan and Collin.
They had an amazing journey together, moving over 25 times during their marriage. Jr enjoyed spoiling and caring for Pat until his health began to fail and he passed away in 2014. They were married for 37 years.
Pat was always a very independent and strong willed, determined person. She dropped out of high school before graduating. However, this didn’t impede her determination. Pat obtained her GED and went back to school to become a nurse. This was a fitting occupation for her as she was a caring, smart and generous person. Pat accomplished so much in her career and her supervisors saw her leadership qualities. She was given job roles that usually required higher education, such as assistant director of nursing, certified nursing assistant educator, and director of infection control. In her career she worked in home health, long-term care, hospitals emergency, urgent care, and clinic settings. Pat continued to work as a nurse until 2023 but kept her license active until 2025.
Patricia loved her family fiercely, her kids, her grandchildren and her siblings. She loved to play games, crochet, crossword puzzles, study her bible, cook, clean and rearrange furniture to mention a few. She enjoyed decorating and her collectibles. Pat was also an active member of the PEO and enjoyed the philanthropic work they did.
In 2015 Pat met Denny Dass Denny and Pat shared 10 years together. They truly cared for each other as they grew older not only as companions and friends but as partners. They were married May 3, 2025. They shared a love of their fur babies, Jasper, Kylee, Jack, Elee and most recently Teddy (Cubby). Denny will feel the loss of Pat as much as someone who has known her all of their life.
Pat so loved the Lord, even when she didn’t attend church on a regular basis she had a strong foundation of faith. However, when she moved with Denny to Milford Iowa, her sister Sue introduced her to the Worthington Baptist Temple (WBT). Pat had no idea what an awesome part this church and its congregation would have on her life. She began to regularly attend services and under Pastor Sickmeyer’s preaching, the Holy Spirit began to move upon her heart concerning her need for salvation. On November 17, 2024, Pat repented of her sins and trusted Christ as her LORD and personal Saviour. That day, she was gloriously saved and was grateful for the LORD’s salvation and her church. The WBT family was an enormous part of her life and a source of extreme joy. She told everyone who would listen about the loving Sickmeyer family and all the wonderful parishioners in her church community. She loved all of these people beyond measure.
Pat was an astonishing, complex human being. She was caring, compassionate, head strong, free willed, sometimes, or maybe even, many times stubborn and bullheaded. She was generous to a fault, loving, competitive, protective, and usually fearless. She had no idea of what a tremendous impact she had on our world and how sorely she will be missed forever.
Devoted mother and wife Pat opened her eyes from a rest to meet the Lord on January 27, 2026.
Pat is survived by her husband, Denny; her daughter, Candy (Brad) Davis; her son, Lance (Dani) Danielson; her stepsons, Marty, Jonathan and Collin Koepp; her grandsons, Sean Stouffer, Brandon (Rayne) Davis, and Justin Danielson; her granddaughters, Gracie Davis and Katie Danielson
Also blessed to have shared her life are her sisters, Sue (Jim) Clark, Jean (Jim) Trusty and Joan Hegge; brothers, Stan (Jane), Lee Jr (Margie), Paul and Ole Olson; brothers-in-law, Butch (Val) Koepp and Tim Dass; sisters-in-law, Deb Dass and Janet Carter; Denny’s son, Chris (Lori) and their children; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and an abundance of friends both near and far.
She is preceeded in death by her parents, Lee and Dorothy; her husband, Carl Jr,; her son, Wayne; her stepson, Wade; her sisters-in-law, Joanne and Betty; her nieces, Jennifer and Suzanne; and her nephew, David.
