Nicholas Credgington passed away on April 21, 2025, in Spirit Lake, Iowa after 81 years of world-wide adventure.
Nick was born in Napton on the Hill, Warwickshire, England on December 30, 1943, to Ernest and Doris Credgington. He was educated at schools in Singapore, Australia, and England, ending his formal education at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Nick was married on August 20, 1966, to his college sweetheart, Karen Reitz in her hometown of Carroll, Iowa. He was inducted into service in the U. S. Army in 1968. He was relocated to Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington, the following year, where he began his lifelong career in entertainment, and where they raised their two children, Kristen (William) Vogt and Alex (Leslie) Credgington.
Born into a theatrical family, Nick carried his love of entertainment throughout his career, directing well over 100 local and worldwide productions. He retired in 2014 as Deputy Chief of Entertainment for the U. S. Army.
Nick will be remembered as a gentle soul whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him. His love of nature and the arts followed him throughout his life, bringing beauty to everything he touched. He was a mentor to countless others, a dedicated volunteer to several organizations, and a true renaissance man with a rare ability to bring to life his creative visions.
In addition to his children, Nick is survived by his sister Terry McCracken Chase, five beloved grandchildren, two great granddaughters, and two cherished nieces.
A small, local commemoration will be held Friday, April 25 at 11am at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirt Lake, Iowa, with a future service and memorial to be determined.
