Myrna Matthiesen

A Memorial Service for Myrna Matthiesen, age 95, of Lake Park will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:30am at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:30-10:30am at the church in Lake Park.

Myrna Matthiesen, age 95, passed away on April 25, 2026, at Good Samaritan Society in Estherville, Iowa.

Myrna Pauline was born on March 25, 1931, in Lake Park, Iowa, to David M. and Mathilda (Ritterholz) McClure. She was united in marriage to Dallas Matthiesen on June 30, 1948, in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Myrna lived her entire life in the Sioux Valley and Lake Park, Iowa area and was active in the Presbyterian Church. She worked for over twenty years at Butch’s City Market, later at Sathers, and faithfully served for twenty-five years at the Presbyterian Church in Lake Park.

She loved reading, listening to religious music, and spending time in her daily devotions. She enjoyed taking rides around town in Lake Park and Myrna treasured the time she spent with her family, especially during the holidays.

Myrna is survived by her son, Mike (Lucy) Matthiesen; sister, Rita (Jim) Heimsoth; brother, Wes (Tina) McClure; sister-in-law, Betty McClure; grandchildren, Chad (Becca) Matthiesen and family, Lindsey Matthiesen, Kevin (Jennifer) Perkins and family, and Amanda Perkins and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Matthiesen; her parents and parents-in-law; sister, Julie; brother, Bud; son, Chuck; and grandsons, Kiley and Josh.
