Marvin Earl Miller, age 80, passed away on June 2, 2024, at his home in Spirit Lake. He was born on June 23, 1943, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, to John Earl and Marie Evelyn (Martinson) Miller. Marvin completed his education at Spirit Lake High School.
On December 8, 1973, Marvin married the love of his life, Joyce. They were blessed with one daughter, Sara. Proud of his home place, Marvin spent his entire life there. In 2019, his commitment to farming was recognized when he received the Century Farm Award. Marv farmed throughout his life, raising corn and beans, tending to cattle and always lending a helping hand to neighbors in need. Marv and Joyce enjoyed traveling, especially vacations out west. The couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by family.
He enjoyed the outdoors, mowing the land and watching out the window as the deer came to eat, hoping to catch a glimpse of other wildlife. As a supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings, he would often have a football game on. He enjoyed old westerns and staying updated on farm news as well.
Marv loved having his daughter Sara and her family nearby. His grandchildren, Emma and Evan, were his pride and joy. They held a special place in his heart as he always enjoyed teasing and spoiling them.
Marvin will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Joyce; daughter, Sara (Joel) Fisher; grandchildren, Emma and Evan. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Roberta and brother-in-law Dick.
The visitation service will be held on June 5th at Turner Jenness Family Funeral Home in Spirit Lake from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
