Marilyn Bordwell

A funeral service for Marilyn Bordwell, 86, of Lakefield, Minnesota, will be held at 10 am Saturday, December 19, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Minnesota.Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Friends and family may view the service using the livestream link found on the church's website.

Marilyn Elizabeth Bordwell, the daughter of Marietta Elizabeth (Chandler) and Andrew Roy Foster, was born June 23, 1934 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. After graduation from high school, Marilyn attended Hastings Nebraska Teaching College and Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota. She taught 3rd grade in Jackson, Minnesota for one year.

On June 10, 1958, Marilyn was married to David Emery Bordwell in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She was a dedicated wife, mother and was extremely wonderful at welcoming people into her home.

Marilyn enjoyed genealogy, sewing, knitting, crocheting and gardening. She was an avid scrapbooker, reader, loved writing letters and sending cards. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson where she taught Primary Children's Church, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and sang in the church choir. She was involved in Voyagers, Jet Cadets/Whirlybirds and had Good News Club in their neighborhood. Marilyn also was a 4-H Leader and was a member of Home Extension (called "Hen Party" by Dad).

Marilyn passed away December 15, 2020 at the Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minnesota at eighty-six years of age.

She is survived by her daughter, Renee Bordwell of Lakefield; daughter, Ruth Tatter and her husband, Greg of Warba, Minnesota; daughter, Romona Holmberg and her husband, Mark of Lakefield; six grandchildren, Logan (Randi) Tatter, Alexis Tatter, Austin Tatter, Andrew Holmberg, Hannah Holmberg and Sarah Holmberg; three great-grandchildren, Bryher, Berkley and Lars Tatter.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Marietta Foster and her husband, David Emery Bordwell.
