Lowell Deane Rogne, the son of Hennie (Olson) and Wayne Rogne, was born May 15, 1949 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. After graduating from high school, Lowell enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served during the Vietnam War. Due to a service related disability, Lowell received full benefits to support his family. Lowell was married to Debra Rae Wilson on October 26, 1969. The couple made their home in the Lakes area, where they raised their family. There was nothing that Lowell could not do, being skilled at carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanics and making furniture. Lowell and Deb built their home with the help of many friends. He enjoyed remodeling, helped his wife clean homes and took care of elderly friends. He was always willing to help anyone, even if it meant leaving his own work to last. Lowell would even walk into the Dry Dock and help out. He loved his flower gardens and animals but his family and wife always came first. Lowell was active in the DAV, Little League and building floats. He enjoyed boating, sudoku puzzles, snowmobiling, fishing, playing darts and euchre. Lowell was first diagnosed with thyroid cancer and battled it off and on until 1985. In 2016, he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer which he fought for two years until he made the decision to enjoy the life he had remaining with his family and friends. Lowell passed away September 16, 2018 at his home in Spirit Lake at sixty-nine years of age. Lowell is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Deb Rogne; children, Barb Pomrenke and Brenda (Gary) Heady; grandchildren, Breaunna Rogne (fiancé, Ben Held), Korey Rogne, Matt Rogne, Alec Rogne and Miles Heady; great-grandson, Hoytt Mason Held; many others who called him grandpa, especially special friends, Todd and Diane Moreno and their son, Cody, Torrey Mankle, Alex, Nick and Laurie LaBounty, Regan Taylor, Mary Klatt and family, Rob, Sue, Nate Kleaver and family; many other loving friends which were all part of our family. Waiting for Lowell in Heaven are his best friends, Jim Klatt and Larry Whitecotton.
