Kirk Joseph Eilers lived a life of quiet purpose and determination. Born to Robert Francis Eilers and Kathleen Ruth Eilers (Zwiebahmer), he joined his older brother Chris as the second of four siblings, later welcoming Kent and Kimberly.
Kirk took pride in his academics and was part of many athletics and activities during his school years. From trips with Science Club, weekend long wrestling tournaments, show choir competitions, speech and debate tournaments and weekends watching Twin Peaks with the crew at mom and dad’s house. He was active in Boy Scouts which instilled his passion for the outdoors. He earned the highest rank, Eagle Scout. As a proud graduate of Okoboji High School Class of 1991, he furthered his education at South Dakota State University. He later earned his degree in Political Science from the University of Iowa.
His career in political research and campaign strategy took him across the United States. He lived in Montana, Washington DC, Florida, North Carolina and found his home in California. Kirk worked on numerous campaigns and research projects, most recently with the RAND Corporation, where he analyzed charitable donor data. Kirk was a man of simple pleasures. He enjoyed building and creating; from homemade banjo’s to complex bicycles. He loved spending time cycling with Venice Electric Light Parade or wandering down Abbott Kenny on Food Truck Fridays, which made his foodie heart happy!
Kirk adored his family and the time he spent with them. He loved watching football with the boys. He shared his passion for movies, gaming and cooking with his nieces and nephews, siblings and parents.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Eilers. Kirk is survived by his mother, Kathleen Eilers (Des Moines, IA); his siblings Christopher Eilers (Des Moines, IA), Kent & Kami Eilers (Milford, IA), and Kimberly & Joseph Jackson (Kansas City, MO); and his cherished nieces and nephews.
