Kay M. Jewell

Funeral services for Kay Jewell, 74, of Spirit Lake, will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, February 23, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin at 5 pm, Thursday, February 22, 2018, with the family present from 5-7 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Kay Mildred Jewell, the daughter of Mildred (Smith) and Leonard Anderson, was born December 9, 1943 in Alta, Iowa. She received her education in Fort Dodge, Iowa. On March 17, 1978, Kay was united in marriage to Bryan Jewell in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa where Kay worked as a hair dresser for many years as well as prepared income taxes. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Kay enjoyed shopping in stores with her family and later took up shopping on QVC. She cherished her time with her three grandkids and loved to go fishing until she outfished Brandon! Kay also enjoyed bowling and being with her close friends. Kay passed away February 18, 2018 at her home in Spirit Lake at seventy-four years of age. She is survived by her husband, Bryan Jewell of Spirit Lake, Iowa; son, Brandon (Megan) Jewell of Estherville, Iowa; grandkids, Mady, Bentley and Brayden. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Mildred Anderson; her sister, Betty Miller.
