A funeral service for Jay Schwarzenbach, 80, of Lake Park, will be at 2 pm, Monday, December 4, 2017, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Lake Park. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park. Jay Edward Schwarzenbach, the son of Blanche (Elston) and Charles Schwarzenbach, was born August 1, 1937 in Lake Park, Iowa. After graduating from high school in Sioux Valley, Minnesota, Jay enlisted in the United States Airforce on March 24, 1958, serving as an airman until his honorable discharge on March 23, 1964. On July 26, 1961, Jay was united in marriage to Emily (Denker) Schwarzenbach at Prior Lake, Minnesota. He worked as a banker for several years in St. Paul, Brainerd and Little Falls, Minnesota before moving to Lake Park, Iowa in 1987. Jay loved being out in nature, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family. On November 28, 2017, Jay passed away at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at eighty years of age. He is survived by his brother, Jack Schwarzenbach of San Jose, California; five children, Scott (Mary) Schwarzenbach of Spencer, Iowa, Shelley (Dave) Frerichs of Becker, Minnesota, Sherry Colucci of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Steve (Angela) Schwarzenbach of Lake Crystal, Minnesota and Sheila (Doug) Daggett of Peterson, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Schwarzenbach; parents, Charles and Blanche; three sisters, Jean Wolf, Judy Goodman and Joyce Lovander.
