Ian Ackroyd

A Visitation for Ian Ackroyd, age 61, of Spirit Lake will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 4:00-6:00pm at the Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.

Ian Richard Ackroyd, age 61, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Ian was born on May 25, 1965, to Leslie and Dorothy Ackroyd in Halifax, England.

On May 27, 1988, Ian was married to Clare Ackroyd in Wymeswold, England. They lived in various places including Rattlesden, England, Winfarthing, England and Maxton, North Carolina before moving to Spirit Lake, Iowa in 2002.

Throughout his life, Ian was actively involved in agriculture and held a variety of farm management positions.

Ian enjoyed staying active and spending time on his computer, whether playing games or exploring his interests. He especially enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons, Cooper and Colt, and playing with them.

Left to cherish Ian's memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Cody Davis; his grandsons, Cooper and Colt Davis; his sister, Lynn Lawson; his brother, Graeme Ackroyd; as well as other relatives and friends.

Ian was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Clare Ackroyd; his parents, Leslie and Dorothy Ackroyd; and his stepmother, Sheila Ackroyd.
