Gabriel Hall

April 18, 1984 — March 25, 2026

A come and go memorial gathering for Gabriel Hall, age 41 of Spirit Lake, will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.

Gabriel Alan Hall, was born on April 18, 1984, and grew up in Hartley with his parents, Danny and Jan Hall, and his two sisters, Ada and Miranda. From an early age, Gabe carried a bold spirit — the kind of person who brought energy into every room, and kept us all guessing. Gabe was full of surprises but balanced that energy with a heart of gold.

Gabe lived life with a free spirit, always drawn to adventure, and followed his own path. Gabe eventually made his home near family at the lakes, sharing that chapter with his loyal dogs, Paris and Aries who were true companions.

At the lakes, Gabe met Chelsey Mattsen, and together they built a life that reflected both of their hearts — blending their fur families, in Spirit Lake.

A gifted carpenter by trade, Gabe was skilled with his hands and took pride in creating something lasting. His craftsmanship led him to start his own business, shaped by raw talent and independence.

Gabe was a devoted fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and didn’t miss game day. In true Gabe fashion, he never minded carving his own lane — proudly breaking family tradition by becoming a loyal fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and that independent streak suited him well; Gabe lived life on his own terms, with conviction, humor, and heart.

Gabe was preceded in death by his mother, Jan, whom he went home to join on March 25, 2026. There is comfort knowing that together they continue to love and protect those of us still here on our journeys.

Gabe leaves behind so many friends and family members who loved him deeply and will carry his memory forward. His fiercest love was for his nieces, MiKaya, Marli, and Hadlee, and his nephew Hudson, all of whom Gabe spoiled every chance he got; his father, Danny Hall, and wife Carol Hall of Hospers; his sister Ada DeGraaf and her husband Cody — Gabe’s lifelong friend — of Arnolds Park; his sister Miranda Hall of Hinton; and his son, Dawson Renken of Sioux Falls.

Those who knew Gabe will remember his laughter, his boldness, his loyalty, and the unmistakable way he loved — fiercely, fully, and without hesitation. His spirit remains in the stories that will continue to be told, in the places he loved, and in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have shared life with him.

Some people leave quietly- Gabe leaves behind a roar of memories, laughter, and love that will not fade. When you feel angry or sad, he would want you to remember how hard you laughed with him, how hard you played with him, and smile. This is not goodbye, brother - this is see you later.
