Fred Arndt

A memorial service for Fred Arndt, 72, of Milford will be 10:30 am, Saturday, November 18, 2017, at New Journey Community Church in Milford. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the church. Hans "Fred" Arndt was born at Sac City, Iowa on December 4, 1944, the son of Hans and Mary (Blanchard) Arndt. He graduated from Sac City High School and then attended community college before entering the U.S. Army in 1966. In 1968 he was honorably discharged from the military having attained the rank of Seargent. On December 6, 1971 he married Edith Edmunds at Sac City, Iowa. The couple lived in Hot Springs, Arkansas where Fred served as a Deputy with the Garland County Sheriff's Office before relocating to Milford in 2010 upon his retirement. Fred passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, November 16, 2017 surrounded by family. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Edith, son, Shane Arndt, and six grandchildren Andrew, McIntyre, & McCauley Arndt, and Elly, Emma and Mylee Watje. Survivors also include his brother, Victor Arndt, sister, Mary Ellen Pickinpaugh and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Mary Arndt, two brothers, Dick and Terry Arndt and one niece.
