Curtis Rottunda

A Mass of Christian Burial for Curtis Rottunda, age 82 of Spirit Lake, will be at 10:30 AM on Monday June 29, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. A visitation will begin at 9:30 AM on Monday at the church. Burial will be at St. Margarets Cemetery in Spirit Lake.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family to honor Curtis' life.

Curtis (Curt) Dean Rottunda, the son of Arthur and Mildred (Dunaway) Rottunda, was born February 7, 1944, in Spencer, Iowa. Curt grew up in rural Clay County, Iowa and graduated from Lake Center High School in 1961. After graduation, he worked for the family farm and for Spencer Packing Co.

He met and married Diane Marie Pixler on July 11, 1964, making their home in Spencer, Iowa. In 1967, the family moved to Spirit Lake. Curt worked for Alliant Energy for thirty-two years, retiring in 1999.

He enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and family, hunting and fishing and was a proud member of the Spirit Lake Fire Department for twenty-three years.

Curt passed away June 22, 2026, at his home in Spirit Lake, Iowa at eighty-two years of age.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Curt is survived by his wife, Diane Rottunda; two children, Jacki (Harry) Malott and Kris (Steve) Sweeten; two grandchildren, Kayla (Logan) Rutherford and Ally Malott; one sister, Linda Mifflin.
