Chuck E. Woodworth

A funeral service for Charles "Chuck" E. Woodworth, 84, of Madrid, Iowa and formerly of Albert City and Milford, Iowa, will be held at 2 pm, Monday, June 11, 2018, at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will be at Union Township Cemetery in Harris, Iowa. Charles Edward Woodworth was born on October 23, 1933 in Harris, Iowa to Edward E. Woodworth and Bertha Hofkamp Woodworth. He grew up in Harris and was baptized and confirmed at Harris Methodist Church. In 1952, he graduated from Harris High School where he participated in athletics and music. Chuck graduated from Mankato State Teachers College in Mankato, Minnesota where he also played baseball. He was united in marriage to Beverly Rae Holst on December 16, 1956 in the Harris Methodist Church. One son, Charles Randall, and two daughters, Judith Lorraine and Jeri Kay were born to this union. He served in the U.S. Army from February 1957 to February 1959 doing basic at Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas and then at Ft. Hood in Texas. He served in the Army Active Reserve from 1959-1963 when he was honorably discharged. He taught one year at Guernsey, Iowa, five years at BGM in Brooklyn, Iowa and then moved to Albert City, Iowa in 1965 where he was a teacher, coach and principal for twenty-eight years at Albert City-Truesdale. In Albert City he was involved in the Lutheran Church, Lions Club, community activities and the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, camping, all sports, dancing, traveling and most of all spending time with his family. In 2008, they moved to Milford, Iowa where they enjoyed the Iowa Great Lakes activities. In 2017, they moved to Madrid, Iowa to be closer to their family. Chuck passed away June 7, 2018 in Madrid, Iowa at eighty-four years of age. Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Beverly; children, Charles R. (Julie) Woodworth of Granger, Iowa, Judith (Jon) Chapman of Johnston, and Jeri Kay Taubman of Arlington Heights, Illinois; He is also survived by his granddaughters, Jenna (Chris) Rennie, Graci (Eric) Brouillette, Ashley Woodworth and fiance' Noah Pickard and Danielle Taubman; grandsons, Kyle Chapman, Kaleb Chapman, Ryan Taubman and Jake Woodworth; great-grandsons, Jack and Liam Rennie; sister, Mary Blades of Rockford, Illinois; brother-in-law Dalbert (Liz) Holst; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Bertha Woodworth; brother, Richard Woodworth and nephew, Tom Woodworth.
