Charles Hedges

A graveside service for Charles Hedges, 96, of Spirit Lake, will be held Monday, July 27, 2020 at 11:00AM at Memory Gardens in Spirit Lake.
Charles Grant Hedges, the son of Leo and Susie (Singer) Hedges, was born November 17, 1923 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. After Spirit Lake High School, Charles was enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 and was honorably discharged on April 5, 1946. Charles served on the USS Tennessee Battleship during WWII.
On July 7, 1946, Charles was married to Rosemary (McGill) Hedges in Spirit Lake. They owned and operated Hedge-Row Resort and Charles worked in maintenance at Iowa Electric Light and Power and John Morrel & Co. He enjoyed inventing, reading the Wall Street Journal, movies and ice cream and visiting the Missouri Farm. He also liked to visit with family and friends.
Charles passed away February 14, 2020 at Southview Acres in West St. Paul, Minnesota at ninety-six years of age.
He is survived by his son, Tom Hedges and his wife, Debbie; grandson, Brandon Hedges and his wife, Katie and great-grandchildren, Kyle, Marina and Grant Hedges; granddaughter, Abby Felder and her husband, Jeff and great-grandchildren, Drew and Blake Felder; grandson, Aaron Hedges and his wife, Ellie and great-grandchild, Joon; sister, Joy Askeland and brother, Lynn Hedges.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary; parents, Leo and Sue Hedges and sister, Marvel (Hedges) Murray Jimenez.
