Beverly A. Rush

July 21, 1929 — March 9, 2018

Funeral services for Beverly Rush, 88, of Lake Park, will be held 10:30 am, Monday, March 12, 2018, at United Methodist Church in Lake Park. Visitation will begin at 3 pm, Sunday, March 11, 2018, with the family present from 3-5 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Lake Park. There will be an Order of Eastern Star service at 5 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home. Beverly Anita (Hanson) Rush was born July 21st, 1929 to W.I. "Bill" Hanson and Velma (Ewing) Hanson in Estherville, IA. She grew up on the family farm in Superior - except for 2 years during WWII when the family moved to Oakland, CA and worked in the shipyards and naval base. Beverly graduated from Superior High School and the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She came to Lake Park to teach and found the love of her life. She was united in marriage to Dean Rush, May 27th, 1951, and they lived in Lake Park for the majority of her life. She taught school in Lake Park, Harris, Ocheyedan and Milford - primarily 5th and 6th grades. While Beverly loved teaching - in 1973 she retired from teaching and went to the field - farming alongside her husband. In 1990 they retired from the farm and moved to town. Due to health concerns, Beverly spent the last year and half at Welcov Assisted Living in Spirit Lake and Windsor Manor in Estherville. Beverly was very active in community organizations. She was involved in the American Legion Auxiliary, a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a 50-year member of the Federated Women's Club and enjoyed the Lake Park Historical Society. She was a member of the Lake Park United Methodist Church, and was involved in anything at the Silver Lake Country Club. She loved golf, bowling, reading, visiting and her family. Beverly passed away at the Holy Family Hospital in Estherville March 9th. Surviving her are her daughter Rhonda Wedeking and husband Charlie of Spirit Lake; granddaughter Tamara Kerns and husband Jeff of Ames and great grandchildren, Ian and Lauren Kerns of Ames; and brother Alan Hanson and wife Ardis of Estherville along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean, and sons Craig and Gary.
