
Jerry Turner began in funeral service 40 years
ago at Cutler Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. During the early years
he attended the University of Nebraska, graduating from Dallas Institute
of Mortuary Science in 1962. In 1970 the Donovan-Leyson Funeral
Homes were purchased and in 1976 Harpole-Tenold Funeral Home was
acquired. Since 1985 the homes have been under the Turner name to
reflect ownership. Jerry served as president of Milford Housing
for 30 years. He is involved with Prison Ministries at Milford Baptist
Church, and serves on the Minnesota-Iowa Christian Broadcasting
Board which operates Christian radio stations in southern Minnesota
and northern Iowa and is a member of Rotary, and Gideons.
Jan Turner, lifetime area resident, has been known for her work
as a portrait photographer. She and daughter Tara Rabenberg are
song-writers and have released a CD You Are Loved by TARA. They
now have a speaking and singing ministry. Jan serves as a mentor
mom for Moms & Tots program headed by daughter Jody Jenness.
In addition, Jan has served for many years on the Okoboji School
Board as well as the Board of Directors for the Iowa Association
of School Boards and other state committees. She leads various Bible
studies, is involved in Prison Ministries, and is executive director
of Shepherd’s Fold Ministries, which is building a home for
young women in difficult life situations.

Greg Jenness has been on staff as a funeral director
at Turner Funeral Homes since 1996. He previously served at funeral
homes in Sioux City, Iowa, and Oak Park, Illinois. Greg has lived
in northwest Iowa his entire life, graduating from Primghar High
School. He received his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Business Administration
and Marketing from Northwestern College in Orange City and in 1995
graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science.
Together with his wife Jody, they operate Jenness Family Memorials.
Jody also has her business degree from Northwestern College. Greg
and Jody have four children: Jacob, Tyler, Kailee, and Emma. Greg
has been a Kinship mentor (Big Brother) and serves on the Kinship
Board of Directors. He has also been a deacon on the Leadership
Team for Good News Community Church. He has recently developed the
COPES program for the area, a support group for people who have
lost a loved one through death.
Besides for caring for their children, Jody helped developed and
now leads an area organization called Moms & Tots (mothers of
pre-schoolers,) teaches piano to more than 20 students and they
also own Jenness Family Memorials. |
