Stanley was born in Spirit Lake to Marvin and Louise (Springer) Pugh on September 3^rd, 1949.  He attended Arnolds Park through the 11^th grade, and graduated from Spirit Lake.  Following high school he spent one year at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, IA, one year at ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, NE, followed by two years at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, where he studied wildlife biology. 

He married Jacqualyn Locey  on August 27, 1966, in Spirit Lake where he lived for the remainder of his life.  Stanley served as a landscaper and carpenter in the lakes area for 30 years before starting his own construction business in 2003. 

Stanley enjoyed wildlife and nature, was a member of the National Audubon Society, and spent his free time bird watching, gardening, and planting trees.  He was also an active member of the community where he served as President of the Little League and coached Little League baseball and softball for many years and volunteered as a statistician for the Spirit Lake High School Football team. 

Stanley passed away at his home in Spirit Lake on April 6, 2010 at sixty years of age.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jackie Pugh, his two sons, Stanley Pugh Jr. (Ericka) of Valley Springs, SD, and Robert Pugh (Katie) of Urbana, IL, his daughter, Melissa Pugh , of the world, and his five grandchildren, Halle Doe-Pugh, Jose, Edgar, and Emily Diaz, and Isaac Pugh.  Two sisters, Linda (Mike) Haupt of Fort Wayne, IN and Glenda Pugh.  Sisters-in-law, Elsie (Larry) Whipkey, Stella Miller, and Alice Miller.  His Aunt Irene Walker, cousins Ron and Kris Walker and their children, Emily, Sarah, and Joe, and Gordy and Pat Graves and their children, Chuck, Dave, Tom, and Bob.  A number of nieces and nephews including, John (Lori) Miller, and Marcy (Steve) Bosch, Steve (Julie) Miller, Mike Miller, and Sara Montandon along with other loved family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Louise, and sisters, Marvelyn Kruse, and Barbara Pugh.
