Winona Recher

Winona C. Recher was born to Arthur and Stella Olson at Greenville, Iowa on December 8, 1919.

In 1937 she married Charles Akins and to this union one daughter, Nancy Louise was born.

In 1958 Winona and Harold Recher were married in Jackson, Minnesota. Harold and Winona lived in Okoboji most of their married life. Winona worked at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for many years. After her retirement form the hospital she worked at the school in Spirit Lake.

Mrs. Recher passed away Sunday, November 29th at the Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. She was 89 years of age.

She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park. She enjoyed helping with the many church activities. She also enjoyed cooking, especially baking bread, gardening, canning, going to and having garage sales; and just spending time with Harold.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Backer and her husband, Bill, stepdaughters, Lois Jacobsen and Lola Recher; granddaughter, Lisa James; two great granddaughters, one great great grandson, two step grandchildren, Heath Jacobsen and Heather Sweet, and four great step grandchildren.

Winona was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, brothers, Donald, Clifford and Rasey, sisters, Ruth, Lucille, Dorothy, Leota, and Bernice, and three grandsons, Micheal, Shane and Shawn.
