Verne E. Sheldon, age 74, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Verne and his twin brother, Virgil, were born November 29, 1934 on their family farm in Spirit Lake, IA to Roy and Mary Sheldon. Verne’s elementary years were spent at Superior School. The family moved to Herman, MN in 1948 where he graduated High School.

Verne married Sharon Vogel on September 6, 1958 in Tenney, MN. Verne and Sharon farmed the family farm in Norcross, MN before moving to Elbow Lake, MN where he worked various jobs. They returned to Spirit Lake, IA where he worked at Berkley’s until his health failed.

Verne and Sharon had many happy memories together which included fishing, hunting with their dogs, Troubles and Gypsy. They also enjoyed music, riding motorcycle and their 25th wedding anniversary trip to Alaska. Verne cherished his many memories and visits with his brother, Virgil.

He will be sadly missed by his sister, Rosie Rustand of Fergus Falls, MN, twin brother, Virgil (Shirley) of Madrid, IA, sister-in-law, Loretta Sheldon of Dawson, MN and his many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, parents, brothers, Victor and Fred, sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Glen Lawyer, brother-in-law, Clifton Rustand and sister-in-law, Kathy Sheldon.

Blessed be the memory of Verne Sheldon.
