Joel D. Rolfes Joel David Rolfes was born August 9, 1967 in Spirit Lake, Iowa, the son of Virgil and Carol (Paskert) Rolfes. He was raised and educated in Lake Park, graduating from Harris Lake Park High School in 1985. He continued his education at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville. Joel was united in marriage to Melissa Roede on October 10, 1992 in Estherville, Iowa. The couple made their home in Estherville and Ames, Iowa until moving to Milford in 2000. Joel was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. He was a huge Iowa State Cyclone fan. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. Joel worked as a plumber, most recently at Tom’s Plumbing and Heating in Arnolds Park. Joel passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, at forty-one years of age. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Melissa and their daughter, Caitlin, of Milford; brothers, Jeff Rolfes and his wife Pat, of Lake Park, Doug Rolfes and his wife Terri, of Spencer and Marty Rolfes and his wife Paula of Redfield, Iowa; grandmother, Agnes Paskert of Lake Park. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Todd Roede and his wife Katy of Spring, Texas, mother-in-law, Rose Roede of Spring, Texas, nieces and nephews, Laura Rolfes, Amanda, Cody and Kelsey Rolfes, Megan, J.J. and Nicole Rolfes, Zachary, Sofia and Alex Roede. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Carol Rolfes, infant sister, Tammi, sister-in-law, Martha Rolfes, paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.
