        Nina Peterson Wood was born October 1, 1909 at Linn Grove, Iowa to Andrew Peter Mathison and Fay Pierce Mathison.  She received her education at the Royal, Iowa school, graduating in 1927.

         On June 19, 1929 she married Carl Peterson.  They farmed in the Royal area for many years.  Carl passed away May 31, 1957.

         Nina married V. J. (Chubb) Wood March 18, 1962 and they lived in Calumet for several years.  The built a home on Spirit Lake in 1966 where Chubb passed away November 9, 1986.

         Nina was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, serving as president of the GLCW for two years as well as heading the Elderberries.

         Death came on January 10, 2010 at Hilltop Care Center.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, three brothers and two sisters.

         Surviving are her daughter Jean Mengel and husband, Darwin, and granddaughter, Linda Mengel, all of Mesa, AZ.
