A Funeral mass and memorial services are planned for the summer of 2010 for Michael Eugene Tangney, 72, who passed away December 29, 2009 at his home in Okoboji.

Mike was born on April 17, 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa.  He was the son of Earl Joseph Tangney and Jean Maurer Tangney.  Mike was raised in Spencer, graduating from Spencer High School in 1955.  During his high school years, Mike excelled in the sport of track.  He later graduated from Buena Vista College.

Since the 1960s, Mike has been a resident of Okoboji.  He enjoyed driving his boat, watching the sailboat races and walking the lakes path along Dixon Beach.  Mike also enjoyed having long conversations with his many friends in the Lakes area.

Mike’s parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by his sister, Margarate Tangney Lainson of Iowa City; nephews, David Lainson of Burbank, California, Michael Lainson of Huntington Beach, California; one niece, Elizabeth Lainson of Iowa City.  He is also survived by many cousins.
