Irene Marie Eakin was born January 21, 1917 in Russell, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Louisa (Cory) Crozier.  She received her high school diploma.

On March 26, 1938, Irene was united in marriage to Virgil Eakin in Canton, South Dakota.  The family lived in Sibley, Iowa before moving to Spirit Lake, Iowa in 1965.  She attended the Baptist Church.

Irene enjoyed walking, wildlife, shopping and spending time with her family.

Irene passed away December 24, 2009 at her home in Spirit Lake, Iowa at ninety-two years of age.

She is survived by her husband, Virgil Eakin; daughter, Cheryl Kulnar; grand-daughters, Nicole Allen, Michelle Allen and Julie Watterson and her husband, Steve. 

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, William and Louisa Crozier; brothers, Everett, Ed and Bill; sister, Iva.
