Sarah Ellen King was born May 19, 1918, the daughter of Bruce and Rose (Lentz) Kelly, on a farm near Spirit Lake, Iowa.  She attended school in Spirit Lake, graduating from Spirit High School in 1935.

Sarah was united in marriage to Clyde S. King on November 14, 1936.  The couple made their home in Lake Park, where they ran a car and tractor dealership as well as a blacksmith shop.  Clyde passed away on September 1, 1952.

After selling the business, she cared for her aging parents.  After they passed away, Sarah worked as a secretary at Harris Lake Park Community for twenty years.  Upon retirement, Sarah worked as a secretary for Lake Park United Methodist Church.  In July, 2007, she moved to the homes of her children Jean Hawes and Roger King.

Sarah passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the home of her son, Roger King in rural Lake View, Iowa at ninety years of age.
