Mearl Ray Page

Mearl Ray Page was born September 24, 1934 in Spirit Lake, Iowa the son of Mearl Clinton “Bud” and Doris N. (Penn) Page.  He was raised and educated southwest of Milford, graduating from Okoboji Consolidated School in 1953, where he played basketball and baseball.  Mearl entered the US Army, serving during the Korean War, until receiving an Honorable Discharge.

Mearl was united in marriage to Nancy Poffinbarger in 1984 at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri.  The couple made their home in Omaha, Nebraska, where he worked in building management for the VA Hospital, until retirement.

Mearl loved the outdoors, and especially the annual fishing trips to Red Lake, Ontario, Canada that his father first brought him as a young boy.  Mearl and Nancy enjoyed their summers at Memphis State Park, where they operated a concession stand for several years.  His father gave him an Indian motorcycle at fifteen, and he continued his love of riding through his life.  Mearl was a very social person and made friends easily.

Mearl passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at seventy-three years of age.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Page of Omaha; children LeeAnn Mullins (Rick) of Texas, Ronda Wolf (James) of Omaha, Randy Page of Kansas City, Missouri, Allan Page of St. Joseph, Missouri, Sheri Page of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Linda Jo Hollis (Roger) of Camarillo, California.  He is also survived by his brothers, Aaron Page (Martha) of Urbandale, Iowa and Jan Page (Nancy) of Sioux City, Iowa, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, other family and many friends.
