Kathleen Joanne Granstra was born July 11, 1936 in Sanborn, Iowa the daughter of Ray and Nellie (Brower) Elgersma.  She attended Sheldon Christian School as well as Western Christian High School. 

Kay was united in marriage to Johnny Granstra on March 8, 1956 in Sheldon, Iowa.  The couple lived in Harris, Iowa and Worthington, Minnesota before moving to Spirit Lake, Iowa in 1996.

Kay enjoyed being involved with her grandchildren and all that they did.  She loved all of her family, her many friends and her church.  Kay was a member of the Good News Community Church and was very involved in many of the activities.  She also enjoyed traveling and reading. 

Kay passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at seventy-one years of age.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny; children, Julie (Merlyn) Janssen, Larry (Brenda) Granstra, Darla (Terry) Walburg and Jay Granstra; grandchildren, Arlyn (Joanne) Janssen, Aaron (Marit) Janssen, Joel (Kristin) Janssen, James Granstra, Katey Granstra, Tacey Walburg, Lynae (Nate) Otten, Jonathan Walburg, Nathan Walburg, Shanna Granstra, Kenny Granstra and Marissa Granstra..

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jan; brother, Wes; daughter, Janelle.
