George Single
George Single was born to George and Anna (Knapiek) Single on December 30, 1923 at Spangler, Pennsylvania. He graduated from high school in Gary, Indiana. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a radioman and gunner on a B-29.
On September 27, 1943 he married Mary Naber at Salinas, Kansas. After his discharge form the service the couple lived in Fort Dodge, Mason City and Spirit Lake. George worked as an electrical sales representative.
George died unexpectedly, Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the Avera Mckennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at 84 years of age.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a WWII buff.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 64 years, Mary Single of Spirit Lake; son George Richard Single of Anderson, South Carolina; daughters, Mary Sweeney of Spirit Lake and Debra Jonas of Troy, Michigan; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William and sisters, Mary and Veronica.
