Duane Lee Croft
Duane Lee Croft was born November 7, 1922 in Omaha, Nebraska the son of Morgan L. and Lottie (Owens) Croft. He was raised and educated in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, graduating from Ft. Dodge High School. During WWII, Dewey served as an airplane pilot in the Civil Air Command, stationed in Brownsville, Texas.
He was united in marriage to Jean LaVonne Andrews on August 14, 1950 in Ft. Dodge. The couple made their home in Ft. Dodge, where he owned and operated Croft Ready Mix and Construction Company.
The couple have made their home in Okoboji since 1977.
Dewey was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. He enjoyed woodworking, carving and boating.
Dewey passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa at eighty –six years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, David Croft, Donna J. Hemann, and Dan Duane Croft; and five grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Morgan and Lottie, and siblings Dale Croft and Beverly Croft.
