Funeral services for Thomas DeSpain, 55, of Wahpeton were held Tuesday May 8, 2007 at Turner Funeral Home in Milford, with Galen Rozeboom officiating. Interment was at Milford Cemetery in Milford.

Thomas Anthony DeSpain was born August 10, 1951 to Lloyde and Ruth DeSpain in Milford, Iowa. The DeSpains operated a family photography business in Milford for nearly 50 years. Tom graduated from Milford High School and from the University of Northern Colorado. Most of his life was spent in the oil business in Dallas and East Texas at a variety of jobs -- sales and purchasing, well and pipeline construction and field management. Perhaps his most harrowing experience was being first on hand and participating in extinguishing the blowout of a gas well. Tom loved hunting antique shops.
Tom passed away Friday, May 4, 2007 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at fifty-five years of age.

Tom is survived by his mother, Ruth, and his brother, Edward, both of Wahpeton, as well as several cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Daphne Anne, and his father, Lloyde.
