Shawn Patrick Farrell was born to Jim and Carolin Farrell in Springfield, Massachusetts on April 6, 1968.  He was raised and educated in Milford, Iowa. 

Shawn was united in marriage to Sarah.  He dearly loved his five children and will be deeply missed by them.  He was a loving and devoted father, husband and a wonderful friend.  He loved to play with his children and attend their school and sporting activities.  He enjoyed taking his kids to the beach and watching football, especially the Denver Broncos. 

Shawn dedicated nearly 20 years of his life to his passion for firefighting and rescue work.  He was always the first to help someone in need.  Shawn served as captain of the Milford Fire Department for many years, he served on the Estherville Fire Department and currently was a member of the Spirit Lake Fire Department.  Shawn had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.  Shawn devoted most of his life to helping others and will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched. 

Shawn is survived by his wife, Sarah; sons, Chase, Nathan, Nicholas and Christian; daughter, Cheyenne; father, Jim Farrell; dad, Larry Truman; brothers, George Farrell, his wife, Patti; Jason Farrell, his wife Kari; Mike Truman and Jim Truman; sisters, Amanda Jansma and Sandra Farrell; grandparents, Dotti and Richard Hatte; other family and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolin Truman and his sister, Kimberly Mason.
