Rachel I. DeShazo

Rachel I. DeShazo was born on May 3, 1915 in Superior, Iowa, the daughter of William and Cora (Heath) McMillan.  She graduated from Estherville High School in 1936. 

She was united in marriage to Grover (Clifford) DeShazo.  The couple lived south of Superior as well as by the State Line where the couple farmed for many years.  In 1973, they moved to an acreage in Orleans. 

Rachel enjoyed gardening and canning.  She was a member of the Superior Methodist Church.

She passed away on November 5, 2007 at the Lake Park Care Center in Lake Park, Iowa at ninety-two years of age. 

Rachel is survived by her children, Bonnie Meyer and her husband Richard of Harris, Iowa, Maxine DeShazo of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Ruth Crisman and her husband, Verlon of Harris, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Diane, Shawn, Shannon and Rich; four great-grandchildren, Rachel, Cole, Aria and Joey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford; son, William DeShazo; two brothers, three sisters; one grand-daughter.
