Patrick Francis Rolling was born to Peter N. and M. Elizabeth Schmit Rolling on April 2, 1932 at Armstrong, Iowa, the sixth of 15 children. He attended St. John’s School at Bancroft through the 8th grade, then helped on the family farm and also hired out to the neighbor. On January 9, 1956 he was married to Dorthy Feddersen at St. Mary’s Church in Armstrong, Iowa. They farmed at Swea City, Armstrong and Estherville before moving to a farm near Terril in 1969. In 1999 they moved into Milford.

Pat was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Iowa Great Lakes Saddle Club. After retirement he spent his time raising and training mules, fashioning miniature tractors and plows out of wire and, most of all, enjoying having his family around. He served in the U. S. Army in Korea.

Pat died January 30 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake after a stroke.

He is survived by his wife, Dorthy; four children, Greg (Gaylene) Rolling of Spirit Lake, Kathy (Dave) Determan of Terril, Phil (Mary Kay) Rolling of Milford and Kenny (Stacey) Rolling of Cold Spring, MN; seven grandchildren, Jessi (Nick) Bradley, Terril, Amanda Eickholt, Spirit Lake, Dylan Rolling, Milford, Danny Rolling, Milford, Lexy Determan, Terril, Candice Rolling, Spirit Lake and Henry Rolling, Cold Spring, MN; six great grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters, Rita Beshey, Ft. Dodge, Sr. Theresa Rolling, Dubuque, Dennis (Marlene) Rolling, Bancroft, Helena(Jerry) Irmiter, Armstrong, Joe (Deb) Rolling, Bancroft, Dorothy (Denny) Eckerman, Ft. Dodge; brother-in-law, Gene Yetmar, Ft. Dodge; and sisters-in-law, Alice Rolling, Moorland, Velma Rolling, Ames, Helen Rolling, Armstrong, Joan Rolling, Bancroft and Marian Rolling, Indianapolis, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Jim, Mike, Frank, John and Chuck; and two sisters, Marcella Yetmar and Bernadette Spangler.
