LaRue Woodard LaRue Woodard was born July 30, 1922,
the daughter of Willard W. and Eugenia L. (Newcombe) Surber in Woodbine,
Iowa. She was raised and educated in Woodbine.
LaRue was united in marriage to Albert Schumacher. The couple made their home in the Excelsior area, where they farmed. Upon his death, LaRue continued to farm until 1972. She was later married to Leslie Kinkade and then, to Earl Marchand. LaRue owned and operated Club LaRue, a restaurant and bar in Spirit Lake. She was an avid volunteer worker with RSVP and BABES Program. Her family always came first. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, pets and was an awesome cook. Her Club LaRue burgers are still talked about thirty-five years later. LaRue passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007 at her home in Milford at eighty-four years of age. She is survived by her children, Janet Baschke of Milford, Harlan Schumacher and his wife Kay of Milford, Deanna Kelsey and her husband Jim of Montgomery, Darlene Gustafson and her husband Ray of Spirit Lake, and April Kinkade and her life-long companion Curt Guthrie of Milford. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Joyce Surber; nephews, Gary Siefken and Keith Siefken; as well as many friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, son, Duane Schumacher, grandchildren, Scottie Schmeling, Amy and Andy Campbell and great granddaughter, Sara LaRue Baschke. In Loving Memory
