LaVern "Cliff" Clifford LaVern Dwight Clifford was born to
Elmer and Bernice (Miller) Clifford at Spencer, Iowa on July 29, 1924.
He attended Excelsior High School, graduating in 1942.
On May 2, 1943 he married Ellowene Mae Boers. He entered the U.S. Army on October 24, 1944. Cliff served his country in central Europe as a communications chief during W.W. II. He was honorably discharged on June 29, 1946. Cliff attended the Coyne Electrical and Radio-Television School from 1950 through 1952. After graduating he opened his own shop for radio-television repair in Milford. In 1966 Cliff gave up the radio-television business to work for the U.S. Mail Service driving a star route between the Spencer and Windom, MN Post Offices. In 1976 he went to work for the City of Milford on the street maintenance crew. He retired from the City of Milford in 1987. Upon his retirement from the city he went to work/play at the Okoboji Vu Golf Course for a number of years. He enjoyed wintering in Arizona, playing Solitaire, coffee with guys at Buy-Rite Café, watching people, spending time with his grandchildren and being present to support his wife in numerous endeavors. Mr. Clifford passed away Monday, June 18th, 2007 at the St. Luke
Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa.
