Wayne T. Corey

Wayne Todd Corey was born on December 11, 1952 in Worthington, MN, the son of David Corey and Clarence and Dorothy (Kepka) Burket. Wayne grew up on a farm south of Worthington in Bigelow Township. As a teen he was actively involved in 4H and FFA. Wayne attended Worthington Senior High School, graduating in 1970. He finished his education at Worthington Community College, graduating with his Associate of Arts Degree in Agricultural Business. He was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1972-1975. His last duty station was in Frankfort, Germany.

Wayne married Charlotte Duitsman on September 15, 1984. The couple moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa where Wayne worked in the lumber business. The family later moved to Lake Park, IA, where he worked as a custodian at the Harris-Lake Park School, Lake Park Farm & Home and lastly at Citation Homes of Spirit Lake as Building Yard Manager. Wayne enjoyed coaching his children’s softball and baseball teams for many years. He also served his community as an Emergency First Responder on the Fire and Rescue Team for the Harris-Lake Park region.

Surviving are his wife, Charlotte; three children, Wendy, Joshua and Kaityln, all of Lake Park, IA; sister, Janell Smith of Florida; brother, Michael Corey of Worthington, MN; three grandchildren, Eryka, Isabella and Ryan. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, David Corey and Clarence and Dorothy Burket.
