Sybil Halling Sybil Ann Halling, age 96, formerly of Storm Lake, IA, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake. Sybil was born May 24, 1910. She was the loved daughter of Carl Bernard Dokken and Lillian Ledoux Dokken. Sybil loved her parents and her two brothers while growing up on the farm. John Ernest Halling married Sybil Jan. 1, 1931 in Sioux Falls, SD. They worked and lived in Storm Lake for over 40 years. Sybil was active in the Rebekah Lodge in Storm Lake and through time held several office positions in the organization. Her greatest love was her family. She was a fun and wonderful stay-at-home mom. In 1972, she and her husband were happy to retire at their new lake home at Woodlyn Acres, Lower Gar Lake. They loved to fish. Mother is survived by and lovingly remembered by her three sons, Gerald and his wife, Judy, at their lakeside home at Lower Gar Lake; son, Darryl, at his lakeside home at Lower Gar Lake; Wayne and his wife, Marilyn, of Spencer, IA. Added to her joy of life were two grandchildren, Stacey Caskey and her husband Bill of Spencer and Julie Hoefling and her husband Gary of Spencer, IA. Her four great grandchildren are Kristina Mortenson, Amber Mortenson, Kayla Caskey and Nicole Hoefling of Spencer, IA. Sybil was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Norman and Holver Dokken; and a baby daughter, Marlene Halling. Mother always said she was one of the most blessed, because she had her family close around her for all of her life. However, she also said she could never get her husband to put the worm on the hook for her. Happy fishing Mom. We will all remember and love you always and forever. Your Family |
