Melba “Mickey” Schoning Melba “Mickey” Irene Schoning was born to Dolly (Naychoff) and Ralph MacRunnels on August 13, 1928 at Lake Park, Iowa. She attended school in Spirit Lake. On June 20, 1947 Mickey was united in marriage to Raymond Schoning in Worthington, Minnesota. They were blessed with three daughters, Nancy, Bonnie and Jo. The couple lived in Spencer, Iowa for ten years before moving to the Schoning family farm west of Milford in 1966. Mickey enjoyed gardening, bird feeding and watching, sewing, reading and entertaining friends and family. Mickey worked at Spencer Municipal Hospital, as a nurses aide, for eighteen years. The joy of her life was her family. Mickey passed away at her home in Milford at seventy-eight years of age. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Schlauch and her husband, Mark, of Gruver, Iowa and Jody Mula and her husband Paul, of San Jose, California. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ralph Scholten and an infant granddaughter, Paula Richardson.
