Marjorie Hale

Marjorie Ellen Fritz Hale was the daughter of Glenn L. Fritz and Liesetta (Draper) Fritz.  She was born on a farm in Pipestone County, Minnesota.  She spent most of her growing up years in Bigelow, Minnesota after the family moved there from Pipestone when she was just a small child.

She was baptized and attended the Bigelow Methodist Church.  She graduated from Worthington High School in 1946 as the high school in Bigelow closed when she was a sophomore.

In April of 1948 Marge married LeRoy Renner and they moved to a farm at Cloverdale, Iowa.  To this union were born five children; Dennis, Sandra, Dale, Darwin and Susan.  Marge transferred her membership to the Lutheran Church where she was an active member, teaching Sunday School for several years.  From 1966 to 1976 she worked at several of the retail stores in Sibley.

On July 24, 1976 she was married to Gary Hale of Lake Park, Iowa.  The combined family of Gary and Marge and their children, Gary Hale Jr, Darwin Renner and Susan Renner made their home in Lake Park.

She transferred her church membership to First Presbyterian Church where she became an active member, serving on the Church Session, teaching Sunday School and Bible School, serving on the C.E. Committee and helping with the Senior Youth Group.  Marge was also active in the school, being a part of Music Parents and Athletic Boosters.  Along with her husband, Gary, and Barb and Rich Sohn, Marge organized the Baseball Little League which is still active today.

Marge owned and operated Hale’s Department Store for a number of years, closing it in 1987.  In 1990, she became employed at Stan’s Corner Pronto, until she was forced to quit because of cancer.  She returned to work in 1991 and was employed until a third bout with cancer forced her to quit in July of 2001.

Marge enjoyed reading, embroidering, and making jams and jellies to share with family and friends.  She treasured time spent with family and friends.

Marge died October 4, 2006 at Apple Valley, MN.  While her battle with cancer was long, she never stopped fighting.  She was grateful for every day she was given.  She will be missed so much.

Marge leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Gary; children and their families, Dennis (Lois) Greg and Dennis (Danna) Renner; Sandra (John McNab) and Elizabeth Renner; Dale (Kelly), Dan, Lissa and Jack Renner; Darwin (Judi) and Josh Renner; Susan (David), Teddy, Timmy, and Laura Spilde; and Gary Hale Jr.; brother, Ralph (Carole) Fritz; sister, Gladys (Andy) Antroinen; sisters-in-law, Betty (Bob)  Dalrymple and Pat Fritz; brother-in-law, Dick Hale and Malcolm Horne and nieces and nephews.

Marge is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Donald Fritz and her sister Lois Horne.
