Lillian Von Holdt

Lillian Emma Ann Von Holdt was born September 24, 1912, at Excelsior Township, Dickinson County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Marie (Jacobsen) Watje. She was raised and educated in Excelsior Township, Iowa, and Round Lake Township, Jackson County, Minnesota, attending country school there.

Lillian was united in marriage to Helmuth Von Holdt at Jackson, Minnesota on August 27, 1930. To this union four children were born: Earl, Eldon, Fern and Jo Ann. She lived in Sioux Valley, where she was the custodian for Trinity Lutheran Church for many years. Lillian also worked in the kitchen at Sioux Valley School. In 1979, she moved to Lake Park and worked at Leyson/Turner Funeral Home before retiring. She enjoyed raising flowers, especially African Violets, making quilts, playing cards, bingo and fishing.

Lillian passed away Friday, April 7, 2006 at Lakes Regional Health Care in Spirit Lake at ninety-three years of age.

Lillian is survived by her sons Earl of New Brighton, Minnesota; Eldon (Phyllis) of Bella Vista, Arkansas and daughter Jo Ann (Ferdinand) Dirckx of Broomfield, Colorado, three grandsons, two great-grandchildren and one brother, Edward Watje of New Brighton, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970, her parents, her brothers and a sister.
