Lyman A. Bailey Lyman A. Bailey was born to George and Mabel (Wagner) Bailey on November 6, 1919 at Letts, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a navigator and bombardier. He was a 1948 graduate of Iowa State University. On June 29, 1952 he was united in marriage to Evon Meyer at Latimer, Iowa. He served as County Extension Director for Clay and Dickinson Counties, feed salesman and local Co-op employee. Lyman passed away Friday, August 4, 2006 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at 86 years of age. He was a member of the Terril United Methodist Church, Kiwanis, American Legion, Masons, and ISU Alumni Association. He was a past Lt. Governor of Nebraska-Iowa District Kiwanis. Lyman was a proud recipient of the Governor’s Volunteer Award. He dedicated his life to helping people through his various occupations and as a civic leader. He will be dearly missed by his family, community and church. He is survived by his wife, Evon, of Terril, two sons, Stuart and his wife, Judy of Tecumseh, KS and their daughter, Brooke; Philip and his wife, Mary of Scandia, MN and their children Adam (Sarah), Peter, and Laura; daughter, Sara Compton and her husband Randy, of Ames, IA and their children Catherine and Jennifer.
