Kim J. Rost Kim Johnson Rost, M.S., NCSP, was born on August 3, 1943 in Council Bluffs, IA, the daughter of Earl and Jean (Jenkins) Johnson. Kim graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School of Council Bluffs in 1961. She then graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University in 1964 as well as a Master of Science in 1965. Kim was currently pursuing her Educational Administration Doctorate from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, OH. On January 16, 1965, Kim was united in marriage to Dr. Duane Rost, PE, in Council Bluffs, IA. The couple lived in Ames, IA and Canfield, OH before moving to Spirit Lake in June 2000. Kim was a lifetime summer resident on Crandalls Beach. Kim worked as a School Psychologist and Education Administrator until her retirement. Kim attended the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake where she participated in the church choir and the bell choir. Her love of music led her to be a member of the Many Voices Choir. She was also very active in community organizations. She was a member of the Sports Car Club of America, Mensa, a life member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Alpha lota. She was a member of the Lakes Arts Center and a life member of the Maritime Museum and Transplant Recipient International Organization. Kim passed away at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN, on August 30, 2006, at sixty-three years of age. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Dr. Duane Rost, daughter, Kelley and her husband Will Huxtable; brother, Kirk Johnson and his wife Mary; sister, Kay Cummings; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Dwight and Sylvia Rost; four nephews and two nieces.
