Julian C. Frazier

Funeral Services for Julian Clancy Frazier, age 29 of Bradenton, Florida were held at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Milford, Iowa on December 12, 2006. Julian passed away on December 7, 2006 at Shady Grove Hospital, Rockville, Maryland following a long and serious illness.

Julian was the son of Jean Stein Clancy and biologic Father, James Frizzell. His Stepfather was Captain Harold V. Maixner, US Navy (Retired). He was born in Fairfax, Virginia on May 9, 1977. His childhood years were spent in Frederick, Maryland. He graduated from Quince Orchard High School in North Potomac, Maryland. Julian attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and graduated from New College in Sarasota, Florida in May 2003. Following graduation, he taught high school mathematics in Bradenton, Florida while finishing his graduate studies at the University of Southern Florida. He was planning to return to his graduate studies full time in January 2007, and to teach mathematics part time, and would have received his Masters degree in the May 2007.

Julian’s interests included creative ways of helping students learn advanced algebra and calculus. He wanted them to find it fun to learn and understand why mathematics was useful in life. He was artistic, enjoying painting and drawing as well as designing and creating jewelry. He was adept at playing scrabble and practiced innovative ways of memorizing unique words. He joined a scrabble club and competed in a Scrabble Tournament in Santa Barbara, California. Being very kind and sensitive in nature, he was attuned to other peoples’ needs and a loving “Father” to his two “alley” cats, Candy and Theta.

His maternal Grandfather, Garwin Stein of Pomeroy, Iowa; and Paternal Grandparents, Theodore and Martha Frizzell of Charlestown, New Hampshire preceded him in death.

He is survived by his devoted Mother, Jean Clancy and his loving Stepfather Captain Harry Maixner, U.S. Navy (Retired); Brother, Justin Frizzell and biological Father, James Frizzell of Frederick, MD; Maternal Grandmother, Agnes Stein; Uncle David Stein Sr. and Wife, Connie; Aunt Betty Bulich and Husband, Anthony; Aunt Peggy Helms and Husband, Bill; Cousin Heidi Fuller and Husband, Garry; Aunt Katherine Blaisdell and Husband, Ed; Uncle Robert Frizzell and Aunt Polly; Aunt Elizabeth Bascom and Husband, Alan; Aunt Theodora Frick and Husband, Thomas; and numerous cousins. He was especially close to Sydney Fuller, Tami Ryan, and Marla Beth Bulich.

He is also survived by numerous colleagues, classmates and students, especially his fellow teacher and friend, Frank Barone. He also leaves behind his long-time, close friend Elbert Williams and his fiancée, Mary Lou Brown.

Interment was in Lakeview Gardens Cemetery in Okoboji, Iowa in the Stein Family plot. A luncheon was held, following the services and burial, at the Wild Rose Inn for all who loved and cared for beloved Julian.
