Hans F. Senn Hans Frederick Senn was born August 5, 1914 near May City, Iowa the son of John and Bertha (Rudin) Senn. He was raised and educated in country schools near May City. Hans was united in marriage to Fern B. Morfitt on March 4, 1938 in Ocheyedan, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Harris, Iowa area until moving the Spirit Lake area in 1958, where they farmed until 1977. Upon retirement, Hans and Fern moved into Spirit Lake. Hans was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. He spent much time in his shop building bird houses and many other things out of wood for his family, as well as wood carving. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family. Hans passed away Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at ninety-one years of age. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Fern, and children Gordon & Shirley (Senn) Finnern (Sioux Valley), & John & Naomi Senn (Spirit Lake). He is also survived by his grandchildren Randy & Mary Finnern (Spirit Lake) & their children Kyle & Rachel; Scott & Julie Finnern (Spencer) & their children Michael & Matthew; Duane & Sue VanderVeen(Harris) & their children Stacy, Derek & Cody; Dale & Jodie Sandbulte (Steen, MN) & their children Jeffrey & Jessica; Jon & Deb Brekke (Spirit Lake) & their children Brent & Amanda; Dale & Kim Heide (Stevens Point, WI) & their children Heather & Austin; two sisters, Betty Morgan & Hannah Morfitt.
